Last post I mentioned a giant sailboat without a name. The 68m sailboat was called Vertigo, and is owned by Rupert Murdoch! LOL. You can charter it so no idea if he was on the boat or not. I just found this out otherwise I would have kept an eye out for the old guy. More details here: https://www.yachtcharterfleet.com/luxury-charter-yacht-27075/vertigo.htm
You can charter for just under US$300K/week đ
We stayed 3 nights in Fiskardo. It really was a beautiful spot but in the end it got too busy. This is right beside the bay:

We anchored in the less busy smaller bay beside the big bay. We went ashore for coffee in the big bay and it was very packed with boats and there was probably always some drama of someone trying to stern-dock or getting the anchors caught or whatever but I much prefer being away a bit.
We left and found another great protected bay just south of Sami (AntiSami in Greek) which was also beautiful and much quieter, and happened to have a nude beach on one side. (I promise that is not why I picked the bay.)

This was a great spot….but there were wasps. I built a little wasp trap but on the second morning we were literally inside the boat with nets over the hatches and I was standing guard with bug spray….so we decided that we should move.
We picked a spot at the foot of Kefalonia that looked OK and off we went. There was zero wind.

I’m trying to motor less but if you ‘need’ to get somewhere and there is no wind you have to motor. We got to the spot that looked like it would have good protection from the swells (can make it hard to sleep if they hit the boat sideways). It wasn’t a bay but should have worked. We got there and I was slowly approaching the shore to anchor. There were some big dark spots ahead that I was suspicious of (could be rocks or vegetation….Victoria was on the nose of the boat looking) and suddenly this big tourist boat with a ton of people onboard slows down and starts waving and yelling at us. DON’T ANCHOR THERE was the message so I suspect the big black things were rocks.
We turned around away from shore and because it was still early we decided to continue to the next island Zakinthos. After motoring a bit we got wind! The forecast was for very light winds (<5 knots) and we were suddenly getting 15+knots! So we sailed from Kefalonia to Zakinthos in 20+ knots of wind most of the way and it was fun. It is interesting though how wrong the weather forecast was…must be complicated getting the weather correct with all the land effects from all the islands around.
We anchored in Xigia beach, which is also called the Sulphur beach…..because it smells of sulpher but there are no wasps so far and there is a neat cave in front of us to explore.
